Frankston Heights Chess Club began as a weekly lunchtime program in 2017. Thanks to the generous donations of families and businesses, we are equipped to welcome all students to attend, learn the game and develop their skills.
Chess is the world’s most popular mind sport. In addition to being great fun to learn and play, the educational benefits include development of problem solving and numerical skills, visualisation, memory, concentration and discipline.
Sessions involve differentiated lessons for all students, based on a refined curriculum. We cover rules, strategy, tactics, chess history and most importantly, having fun! Over the year, opportunities arise for students to play at interschool or public tournaments, allowing them to make connections with other players in the community.
